Frequently asked questions…

what mediums can i commission?

I specialize in oil painting but I am happy to work in other mediums

How does the commission process work?

The commission process is easy.

  1. Please email me a high resolution (300dpi) digital photo (.jpeg) of the subject. For portraits especially, the more photos the better!

  2. Please tell me the approximate size that you would like work to be and if there is a deadline for this work

  3. Always helps to know a little bit about what draws you to that image and why but not always necessary

  4. After I review the material you have sent me, I will contact you to discuss the details. If it is an image that is from an idea rather than a photograph, I will send you a few black and white sketches of what I propose, for you to review and approve.

  5. Once I receive approval, a commission agreement with pricing will be emailed to you.

  6. When I receive completed agreement, a 50% deposit is required and your future work will be scheduled to begin

  7. Along the way, I will send you images of the work in progress.

  8. Upon completion, you will receive an invoice for the balance due, and an image of the final piece.

  9. If shipping is required, this will be an extra charge.

  10. Your final piece will be wrapped and protected accordingly for pick-up or delivery.

  11. Certificate of Authenticity available upon request.

***Your privacy is important to me! If you would prefer the artwork to not be shared on my platforms, please let me know***

What photographs will make the best paintings?

Photographs taken with a digital camera (even though smartphone photos are very good now!). The best photos are taken with lots of natural lighting. Outdoor photos, when it is early morning or late afternoon are usually the best ones in terms of lighting. Please only send me copies of your original materials. I do not work from copyrighted material. I am happy to work with you on getting the best possible photograph. Depending on location, I can make myself available to you to take the photo myself.

What are the smallest and largest sizes you paint?

6x6” is the smallest image I have painted; the largest, is 7 feet long.

What Does a commissioned painting cost?

Prices are calculated based on the following

  1. Size of the artwork

  2. The materials used (ex. gallery wrapped canvas, canvas board, paper, paint or drawing, acrylic or oil paint etc.)

  3. Level of detail. Therefore, number of hours required
