MATERIALS FOR ACRYLIC VERSION

  • PENCIL FOR INITIAL DRAWING

  • SURFACE:

    • Canvas, board, wood or canvas paper.

      • I used a Daler-Rowney 10x8” Canvas

  • BRUSHES:

    • a variety of sizes if you have them. If not, any brush will be fine

      • I used Robert Simmons Titanium Brush in Flat #4 and Flat Glaze #1

  • PAINTERS TAPE (OPTIONAL)

    • This is a little trick for those who want really clean lines around your watermelon slices. You can use painters tape around the slice of watermelon, paint it, and then remove the tape.

  • PAINT:

    • Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, White if you would like to mix your own colours OR Magenta, green, white, black

      • I used System 3 Acrylics - Process Magenta, Sap Green, White.

      • (OPTIONAL) For the seeds, I used System 3 Fluid Acrylic in black with the FW Mixed Media Paint Marker (size 0.8mm) for extra precision. This is optional. You can use a fine brush for this step as well.

  • WATER

  • PAPER TOWEL

MATERIALS FOR WATERCOLOUR VERSION

  • PENCIL FOR INITIAL DRAWING

  • Black pen, and permanent marker for final touches

  • Water

  • Paper Towel

  • SURFACE: Watercolour paper

    • I used Saunders Waterford Block Cold Press 8x10”

  • BRUSHES: a variety of sizes!

    • I used Robert Simmons White Sable Flat #1/4 and Round #30
